In this role, you’ll be a key part of the classroom environment—supporting children, collaborating with staff, and helping create a positive, nurturing space where every child can learn and thrive.


What You’ll Do

  • Support children’s social–emotional development by using Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) techniques.
  • Plan and lead PBIS-based activities that help children learn skills like emotional regulation, problem-solving, and positive interactions.
  • Provide one-on-one behavioral support to children displaying challenging behaviors.
  • Collaborate with classroom staff to develop and implement individualized behavior plans.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings to review progress and identify new strategies to support children’s success.
  • Attend PBIS staff meetings, trainings, and monthly team meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families.
  • Keep PBIS materials and equipment organized and inventoried.
  • Communicate regularly with the Mental Health Manager.
  • Serve as a positive advocate for Head Start in the community.

Physical Requirements

To ensure success in the classroom environment, candidates must be able to:

  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Kneel, stoop, bend, reach, and sit on the floor daily.
  • Play with active children.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:45 AM–2:15 PM + 1 additional hour/week (33.5 hours/week)

Program Year: August–June

Position Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt, Benefits Eligible


Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.

At least one year of paid experience working with preschool-aged children

Behavioral health training and/or experience preferred

Salary Description
$14.90-17.41/hr based on education & experience
