Location: Berwick, PA
Schedule: Typically, Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Hours and weeks based on need; typically weeks/months long due to scheduled Teacher Assistant's absence

In this essential role, you’ll work alongside a team of educators to create a nurturing, safe, and engaging learning environment where children can grow, explore, and thrive.
What You’ll Do
As a Teacher Assistant Substitute, you’ll:
- Support teachers in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities.
- Interact positively with children to promote their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, healthy, and organized classroom environment.
- Step into the lead role in the teacher’s absence.
- Communicate daily with parents and staff to support each child’s development.
- Maintain accurate records such as attendance, assessments, and progress notes.
- Implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) strategies.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Capable of participating in active play and physical activities with children.
- Must be able to frequently bend, kneel, stoop, sit on the floor, reach overhead, and safely navigate stairs, step stools, and step ladders.
A Few More Details
- This is a part-time, non-exempt (hourly) position under the supervision of the Education Manager and team.
- Travel is generally not required but may occasionally occur.

Education & Experience
All positions must have experience with young children and their families; such as knowledge of human development, family dynamics and the needs of children. Knowledge of the health, nutrition, social, and educational needs of the young child.
- Teacher Assistant: Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent. Obtain a CDA within 24 months of hire.
- Teacher Assistant II: Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent and a CDA in Early Childhood Education.
- Teacher Assistant I: Possess an AA in Early Childhood Education.
Plus:
- Passion for working with young children.
- Team-player mindset and a positive, professional attitude.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to pass a physical exam and background checks.
